Aston Villa’s supporters are on cloud nine following their team’s win over Derby County. It seems like they are more than ready for the Brums!

Aston Villa swept aside Frank Lampard’s Derby County by a 3-0 margin on Sunday evening. A blitz of goals in the second half was enough to see the Clarets and Blues get the better of their opponents at the Pride Park. John McGinn opened the scoring for Dean Smith’s men on the 74th minute and Tammy Abraham added a second goal just four minutes later.

Conor Hourihane scored some more minutes later to seal a package of a three goal victory and three points to be taken back to the Villa Park. Aston Villa are now one place better off next game’s opponents Birmingham City. The Brums are harsh rivals, so it was important for Dean Smith’s men to open a lead above them.

The Second City Derby is set to be an enticing fixture to say the least on November 25 when Birmingham City visit the Villa Park. The Lions lead the Blues only on goal difference and sit on 11th whereas Garry Monk’s side finds itself in the 12th place. As these eye-catching derbies usually are, the Second City Derby this time out is going to be an unpredictable one as well.

It will be only the first such match that Dean Smith has overseen, so a victory will be a treat for the 47 year old boss. Aston Villa’s fans are confident about their team turning the game’s script in their favor, and over 3000 Clarets were recorded to be singing in the away end of the Pride Park.

There were gleeful chants of “Birmingham City, we’re coming for you” from the away end at the Derby County stadium after Aston Villa stole a march on the Rams late on in the match. What are your score prediction for the season’s first Second City Derby?
