Aston Villa’s manager Dean Smith has provided an update on his team ahead of the Clarets’ visit to the Pride Park on Saturday noon.

Aston Villa travel to the Pride Park on Saturday noon to play Derby County in the Championship and Dean Smith has provided an update on his injured players ahead of the side’s outing. The biggest boost for the Clarets is the return of Birkir Bjarnason who sustained a groin injury when Dean Smith’s men lost to Queens Park Rangers. After missing out on the 2-0 success over Bolton, the Icelandic midfielder is back.

"“Bjarnason is fit,” confirmed Dean Smith at his press conference ahead of the match. “He’s been training with us all week. He’s back to full fitness.”"

Dean Smith also updated Keinan Davis’ status. The young striker is making steady recovery from a groin injury and the boss is expected to have him back with the group by the end of this month.

"“Keinan is starting his rehab now so he should be back on the training ground within the next two or three weeks,” said Smith."

Albert Adomah shunned off any injury worries after being jaded against Bolton, while former Crystal Palace forward Yannick Bolasie has been doing extra fitness drills to help himself up to full fitness.

"The head coach added: “I’m very positive really on the injury point of view as we’ve not got many in the treatment room at the moment so that’s all good.”"
