Another poor showing. Drink.

Orjan Nyland is approaching Brad Guzan-levels of not being terrible, but conceding a s**t ton of goals. He didn’t have to make too many saves, but he was assured in his handling and distribution. The Norwegian needs to show this form on the road, and against better competition.. GK. Aston Villa. ORJAN NYLAND. 6.0

5.0. Elmo’s flank was ransacked all match long, but he was resolute in defending, unlike his wide midfield partner. He didn’t offer anything going forward.. RB. Aston Villa. AHMED ELMOHAMADY

5.5. Booked in the 8th-minute for a foul just outside the box. For awhile, it was looking like Chester would be sent-off because he had to cover mistakes for many of his teammates. In all, an ‘okay’ showing with 91 touches.. RCB. Aston Villa. JAMES CHESTER

LCB. Aston Villa. MILE JEDINAK. 4.5. He’s not better than Axel Tuanzebe, sorry. He’s still Villa’s best No. 6 though.

4.5. Had trouble dealing with Adam Reach alongside Jedinak. Offered nothing going forward other than as a passing outlet for Jack Grealish/John McGinn.. LB. Aston Villa. ALAN HUTTON

Aston Villa. ALBERT ADOMAH. 3.5. 19 touches in 67 minutes says it all from an outside midfielder. Despite the acquisitions of Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie, Steve Bruce used his No. 10 on the left and Adomah on his worse right-side in the last two matches.. RM

CM. Aston Villa. CONOR HOURIHANE. 5.5. The Republic of Ireland international was alright.

CM. Aston Villa. JOHN MCGINN. 5.5. Tough to judge McGinn. On one hand, he scored that goal with 90% passing accuracy. On the other, he was a big culprit in today’s loss with a number of confusing turnovers. It’s not helping that Bruce uses him in a double pivot, which is not a good position for him.

6.5. Villa would be lost without Jack Grealish on a weekly basis. Rinse and repeat.. LM. Aston Villa. JACK GREALISH

Aston Villa. JONATHAN KODJIA. 4.0. This was a performance Jimmy Danger will want to forget about. Should have been booked for diving in the second-half.. ST

5.0. This feels like an incomplete showing after just 30 touches across 90 minutes. Tammy Abraham is undergoing a managerial shock from Maurizio Sarri to Steve Bruce.. ST. Aston Villa. TAMMY ABRAHAM
