Aston Villa disappointed us once more with a 4-1 defeat at Bramall Lane. The Blades of Sheffield United scored early and often.

Player ratings are, for the most part, so useless. They’re subjective, and never account for match context.

But we won’t stop doing them because they’re fun and the first thing you see when judging a player’s performance. Like ERA in baseball or a box score in basketball, ratings don’t dive deep, but they can provide a snapshot of overall game value.

With that said, let’s get into it. Fair warning, though, they’re brutal. About as brutal as you can get for a club that could have lost 6-0.
