Much anticipated and long awaited for Aston Villa fans, the club have today signed striker Tammy Abraham on a season-long loan, making him the third Premier League loanee.

With Abraham now in the claret and blue, it’s possible that the Aston Villa attack force (wings and striker) will now have been completely replaced in the starting lineup, just 5 games into the Championship campaign.

The 20-year old Chelsea man has seen himself loaned out each of the past two seasons, to both Bristol City and Swansea City, respectively.

A proven Championship scorer, Abraham notched 26 goals for Bristol in the 2016/17 campaign. With Swansea last season, Abraham was able to produce 8 goals over the course of 39 premier league and cup matches.

Villa Verdict

Another proven option in the attacking arsenal that adds not only depth  but quality at a position that needed a little bit of both. Abraham should look to continue his Championship form from 2016/2017, and start clotting home goals for his new temporary club. This should ultimately see a two man rotation start to form at striker, between himself and Jonathan Kodjia, who has enjoyed a 3-goal start to his season. This likely bumps Rushian Hepburn-Murphy to an ancillary role, and should more or less see the likes of Keinan Davis only ever be utilized once healthy and if absolutely necessary. On the bright side, Scott Hogan has returned to training after a four-month absence with a groin injury:

The commitment to improving the Villa attack is evident with this signing, in addition to those of Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie. Now it’s time to get out there and score some goals.

Welcome to Villa Park, Tammy!
