Aston Villa’s new kits, designed by LUKE 1977, are a sight to behold

Aston Villa go old school on the club’s 2018/2019 kits, designed by Luke Roper and LUKE 1977. The retro claret, baby blue, and white are back in action.
Villa took Monday to show-off the club’s new kits for the coming season. And my oh my, they are a thing of beauty. I enjoyed Under Armour’s kits these last two seasons. They were sleek, contemporary and modern. I liked them a lot, even if opinion was split from the Villa faithful.
But LUKE 1977’s release of the new kits might top all in recent history. Take a look for yourself:
With a closer look at the new home shirt:
These are incredible, really incredible. An homage to Villa’s 80s and 90s looks, the club went with a more traditional claret, away from the purple-ish look from recent years. And oh, the away kit, bright white with claret shorts. I might just buy both.
LUKE 1977’s logo too, pulls it all together. So different from the big outfitters of football clubs around the world, Luke Roper has done a hell of a job thus far. Now, of course these will have to stand up to athletic performance as well, so stay tuned.
Aston Villa’s first three days in Portugal offered the opportunity to showcase the club’s bright blue training tops – equally as slick.
I believe there is to be an alternative 3rd kit as well, but I am unsure if it was revealed. The goalkeepers will once again wear green for Villa, a common outfit since 2000. Let’s hope for better news on the football operations front, because Villa have killed it thus far on season ticket sales and kit release.
