Aston Villa center back James Chester could have an unforgettable 48 hours at the end of May.

James Chester is in the midst of an incredible season for Aston Villa. At 29, the Wales international has played every minute of league action. Really, every minute of league action through 44 matches.

3,960 minutes without skipping a beat.

If Villa are to go through with promotion, the play-offs remain the likeliest of routes. To win, and to win up to three times, Chester is going to need to pitch shutouts alongside the returning John Terry, goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and fullback duo, Alan Hutton and Ahmed Elmohamady. What makes it extra special for the player, however, is the possibility of a special 48 hours in May.

Currently, the EFL Championship Play-Off Final is scheduled for Saturday, the 26th of May. Chester is getting married the day after to his fiancée, Rea. To prepare for the occasion, the player informed Wales manager Ryan Giggs of his unavailability for that international window. The European Championship semi-finalists’ face-off against Mexico in a World Cup tune-up for the CONCACAF side in Pasadena, California.

Chester will enjoy a holiday break from football with his partner thereafter. The honeymoon could be extra special should Aston Villa prove triumphant in front of a Wembley crowd. He is going to need every ounce of energy possible for those 48 hours, possibly going 120 minutes of football the day before he stands for his wedding. An inside source with knowledge of the situation said the vows will go something like this, “I promise to you, Aston Villa will not get relegated next season.”

In all seriousness, congrats to James and Rea. Life always remains more important than the game.
