Aston Villa announced a season ticket price freeze for the 2018/2019 campaign Monday morning. Adult season ticket packages are available from £322 during the early bird window.

Chief Executive Officer Keith Wyness & Co. gifted Villa supporters some good news Monday morning. Season ticket packages will cost the same next season as they did this season, regardless of the league the club finds itself in.

The two-month early bird ticket window is open now and will stay open for a further two months.

Some of Aston Villa’s starting packages:

"“We have a two-month Early Bird period starting today – which will keep prices exactly as they were in the same sales window last season. Confirming our commitment to families and Young Villans, we have moved our U16 price bracket to U18, in line with the rise in school-leaving age – meaning hundreds of 16 and 17-year-olds remain at a junior rate, saving up to £91 in some areas of the stadium. Become Part of the Pride during the Early Bird window for as little as £322 (adults), £69 (U18s), £130 (U21s), £235 (O65s), £320 (students and armed forces) and £644 (family of four).”"

Season ticket holders also enjoy a plethora of further perks, including: free entry to all Villa Ladies home matches, free entry to all U23 home matches, free entry to the first home cup match of the campaign, with financing options available.

Much is rightfully made about the affordability of football tickets in England and increasing demographic being priced-out of their favorite clubs. As an American, I am not privy to those discussions. But, what I can say, is that it is good to see Aston Villa freeze season ticket pricing with next season’s league still to be decided.

The Premier League offers fewer home fixtures (19 vs. the Championship’s 23), but obviously increases the excitement with the biggest clubs coming to town. Home field advantage is a real game-changer, something Wyness alludes to, saying, “We are very aware of the importance of the claret and blue army. We have enjoyed big Championship attendances at home. Villa Park has been rocking and we’ve really got our swagger back.”

Without any data to back-up these claims, the season ticket freeze seems like a good intersection of fan accessibility and healthy business.
