Momentum is vital for promotion

After 180 minutes of football, December’s paltry return has suddenly been forgotten.  The disappointing defeat at Brentford left Aston Villa outside of the playoff places.  Two wins later, we are now only five points behind the second automatic promotion place.  It’s an obvious statement but winning games will lead to promotion.

Taking Wolves as an example, they look like they can’t be beaten. Much of that comes from belief.  They are playing attractive football but they also approach every game as being winnable.  Their comeback against Bristol City demonstrates that.

Tricky games against both Sheffield teams are surrounded by many winnable ones in January and February. Winning those games will keep the pressure on the pack and off himself.
