Final Thoughts

There is no doubt that yesterday’s result was a bitter blow to Villa’s promotion charge. They now sit in sixth, level on points with the Blades who are just a place below them. Any chance of automatic promotion looks slim considering the form of other teams around Villa.

Hence, the pressure on the team to get a result against Brentford on Boxing Day is now really high, with anything other than three points being a potential disaster that sees the team drop out of the playoffs.
