After Saturday’s goalless home draw with Millwall, fans took to social media to vent.  Most fans were critical of the performance.  However, some fans felt that our position was false and that even the playoffs weren’t achievable.  Disappointment and negativity is a natural part of football, especially if you are a Villa fan, but there are things that will put the game into context.

Millwall are difficult to beat away from home against ‘top’ teams

So far this season, Millwall have gone to Bristol City, Cardiff and now Aston Villa and held them to 0-0 draws.  Only Wolves were able to score, and take the points, from a visit from Millwall. In addition, Millwall visited on the back of an excellent 3-1 home victory against Sheffield United.

Not losing this game was a plus as the visitors had very good chances to win the game.  Predictably, they were physical and we failed to create chances in front of goal.  Jack Grealish’s second-half shot was the only decent opportunity in 90 minutes. At the other end, Sam Johnstone’s resolute keeping shut the Lions out.
