Jordan Amavi’s Aston Villa future was always under doubt, but now the defender/winger has been transfer listed by the club. Amavi wishes for a move to the Premier League; or, at the very least, a move to a club in European competition.
Southampton is the newest club linked for the services of Jordan Amavi. The Saints join Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Sampdoria, and Marseille as top flight clubs interested in the energetic left back.

Amavi wishing to join a Premier League club or Champions League/Europa League club is not unusual. In fact, it’s pretty commensurate of the fullback’s talent and quality. Atletico Madrid always felt like a great fit, but court’s upheld transfer ban threw a wrench into that plan.
Now, Amavi may have to settle for a move to the Premier League as opposed to a Champions League club. Liverpool have need for a new left back, but Jurgen Klopp’s side have been quiet on the Amavi front for a month.
Sampdoria feels like a lateral move from Aston Villa – despite playing very well in Serie A. Southampton is an interesting link on the surface, but the coastal club just parted ways with manager Claude Puel. Their transfer plans may be on delay for time being. Moreover, Southampton already have a great left back – England international, Ryan Bertrand.
With Amavi placed on the transfer list, his public quotations suggest he’s certainly on the move. One would think it wise for Aston Villa to bargain a selling-on fee for Jordan Amavi. Even if it lowered the overall total transfer a million pounds or so.
Hedging against his considerable ceiling is one more way Dr. Tony Xia can help build a sustainable transfer model.
