In a fresh twist of events, reports emerge Aston Villa forward Ross McCormack fails to turn-up at Nottingham Forest’s training ground.

No player disappoints quite like Ross McCormack. The Telegraph is reporting the £12 million dollar striker has not trained with Nottingham Forest for three (!) weeks.

McCormack, 30, was dealing with an achilles injury just one month ago. Since then, however, he failed to report for rehab at either Forest, or his parent club, Aston Villa. In the same report, The Telegraph claim McCormack was spotted in his native Glasgow.

More from Claret Villans

This is a big blow for Villa executives, many of whom hoped the Scotland international would return some semblance of form.

Instead, Tony Xia must accept the possibility McCormack may never play again for the claret and blues. Moreover, he may be forced to sell at a steep, discounted rate.

Remember manager Steve Bruce delivered an ultimatum that Ross must apologize before re-admittance into the squad. A proposal which the player flatly declined to do.

McCormack’s near £50,000 weekly wages will find no taker (Read: new, improved offers) on the open market. Not when the player fails to properly train at two separate Championship clubs.

This is beginning to look like another January situation for Aston Villa. Perhaps another Championship club will risk paying three-quarters wages for the dangerous striker. After all, 74 goals in four years do not exactly grow on trees.

Nonetheless, this remains a terrible situation for all parties involved, namely the parent club. Tony Xia broke a then-Championship transfer record £12 million shortly before the end of August.

Now the club saw its asset depreciate further.
