Aly Cissokho; 28; 5’11” 165lbs; potential cover/loan move

Last summer Tim Sherwood saw Aly Cissokho as surplus to requirements. Subsequently, he moved to FC Porto on a season-long loan. Following Jordan Amavi’s devastating knee injury, Cissokho was recalled with only two appearances in his loan move.

It is difficult to judge what will happen with Cissokho this transfer window. A healthy Amavi certainly pushes Cissokho out of the first team picture, but that situation is not yet resolved. Cissokho’s club situation could be pushed all the way to deadline day in order to give Roberto Di Matteo ample time to test Amavi’s recovery.

Cissokho remains a no-nonsense defender for potential suitors who is limited going forward due to his poor on-the-ball abilities.
